Jim is my loving and supportive husband, and for the past two years, I have been his main caregiver. Our journey has been incredibly challenging—Jim suffered his first two strokes in April 2024, another in July, and a fourth on Valentine’s Day 2025. We thought he was having another stroke the week before Christmas, but when his condition kept getting worse, I took him to the ER. On December 20th, after a CT scan, the doctor told us it wasn’t another stroke. Instead, Jim had a massive brain tumor on the left side behind his eye, about the size of a lemon. The news was devastating. He had a biopsy on Christmas Eve and we went home on Christmas Day, waiting anxiously for the results. It took three long weeks to get answers, and when they finally came, it was not the news we had hoped for. Jim will begin radiation treatment next week, and we are still waiting on further approvals, including insurance approval for a chemo pill that he needs to start as soon as possible.
Throughout all of this, I have done my best to care for Jim and keep our household running. On top of being Jim’s caregiver, I am also attending medical school full time and will graduate in July. Balancing my studies, caregiving, and managing our home has been overwhelming at times, but I am determined to do everything I can for Jim. The costs of travel, daily expenses, utilities, medication, groceries, and medical bills not covered by insurance are adding up quickly. I have always been there to help others, and now I am reaching out for help myself. Your support will make a real difference for Jim and our family as we face this difficult road ahead.
If you are able to contribute or share our story, we would be deeply grateful. Every bit of support brings us hope and helps us focus on Jim’s treatment and recovery. Thank you for being there for us in our time of need.
