Our story began 27 years ago. Jim had his first seizure at the alter in our church and doctors found a grade 3 inoperable cancerous brain tumor. Since then he has had surgery, treatments, numerous strokes and TIA’s.
His kidneys failed recently, he now in End Stage Renal Disease and is not a transplant candidate. We had been performing his PD dialysis treatments every night at home. This past week, he received a temporary catheter in his heart and is temporarily on HemoDialysis at the clinic, 3 days per week, 3.5 hours each visit. He has lost nearly 8 lbs after the first 2 visits. We are hoping this will help his breathing issues.
I am his 24/7 caregiver and work full time at home.
We have spent our savings and used my 401k towards the ranch home we moved to for his safety after he had a stroke near the top of the stairs in our previous home.
I have found it impossible to buy affordable life insurance for him since he had cancer, had numerous strokes and is currently in ESRD with kidney failure.
I humbly ask for help!
I just can’t make ends meet anymore. I have done all I know to do, short of selling our home. I cannot find an affordable ground floor apartment which accommodates wheelchair and walker access, lower than our current house payment. I will soon be 65 and still work and do not qualify for senior apartment assistance.
I am grateful to be working since he will never be able to go back to work.
I find myself in a no-win scenario and it has been a very hard time coming to this place to seek help. I am having my own physical issues now from stress and heartache. We will be married 45 years in October this year.
If we could get back on our feet, I would feel some hope again, for what lies ahead…
Thank you for any consideration you may have on your heart for us.
