My name is Connie Brown and I am doing this fundraiser for my brother, Jimmy Wood. Jimmy has been a diabetic for a few years and after retirement he had some health issues. About a year and a half ago, he had to have a couple toes removed on his right foot due to the poor circulation in his feet and legs. He was seen by a Vascular Surgeon and he still didn't have enough circulation in his foot and had to have another surgery to remove the rest of his toes. A couple months later, Jimmy still had a lot of infection in his leg and it was not healing properly. They had to take him back into surgery and ended up taking his right foot completely. He was still having complications after that surgery and they had to take him to surgery again and took his right leg from below the knee. While all of this was happening, he was rushed back into surgery with a bowel obstruction and had to have a catheter in for 5 months while trying to heal after just having his leg amputated. Jimmy, his wife and family all went through a very hard time, trying to process and cope through all of these health issues. November of this year, Jimmy was on his knee walker and took a very hard fall and had injured his left leg and foot. After seeing the Orthopedic and Vascular Surgeon, he didn't have enough circulation in that leg. On December 16th, he had to have his left leg amputated from below the knee. Jimmy is recovering from this surgery in rehab and will be going home eventually. Jimmy will be needing help with getting his new prothesis, medical bills and home health aids.
