We are reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your urgent prayers and support for our beloved Jimmy Nichols Jr. Jimmy had been overseas in Montevideo, Uruguay, pursuing his passion for basketball, when what initially appeared to be a routine sinus infection suddenly turned into a devastating medical emergency. Within a matter of days, doctors discovered that he had developed bilateral subdural empyema, a rare and severe infection that rapidly spread around his brain, causing catastrophic swelling and dangerously elevated intracranial pressure. Jimmy was rushed into emergency neurosurgery and is now in the Intracranial Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he remains on a ventilator and in a medically induced coma, fighting for his life. He has already undergone three complex brain surgeries, including a hemicraniectomy (removal of a portion of the skull) and the placement of specialized catheters to drain fluid and relieve the immense pressure on his brain.

While these procedures have helped reduce some of the immediate danger, Jimmy's medical team has been candid about the severity of his condition. He remains critically ill and faces an incredibly difficult road ahead.

As soon as they learned of Jimmy's condition, his parents immediately traveled to South America and remained by his bedside, refusing to leave him during this critical time. Their entire world has been turned upside down. No parent can ever prepare for receiving a phone call like this, especially when their child is thousands of miles from home.

We are launching this GoFundMe account to help surround Jimmy and his family with a shield of financial support and prayers, so they can focus entirely on what matters most: being with Jimmy and supporting his recovery.

Funds raised will help with:

• Mounting medical expenses, surgeries, and intensive care treatment

• International travel, lodging, meals, and related expenses for his parents while they remain in South America

• Lost wages and immediate financial burdens as the family navigates this crisis day by day

• Ongoing medical and recovery-related needs that may arise in the months ahead
