Jimmy Helms, my brother, was involved in a traumatic accident on 11/21/25 near his home in Jensen Beach. He spent over three weeks in the TICU, followed by a challenging period in rehab. Just this week, after meeting with a brain surgeon, Jimmy and his wife Loretta received the difficult news that his recovery could take up to two years—if he is able to recover at all. This has been an incredibly tough journey for both of them, filled with uncertainty and worry.

To make matters even more challenging, Jimmy and Loretta do not have medical insurance. They are now trying to get by on only Loretta’s modest income, which is not enough to cover daily living expenses, not to mention the hospital bills and ongoing doctors’ fees that come with Jimmy’s long-term care. The financial strain is overwhelming, and they are doing everything they can to stay hopeful and strong.
