Support Jimmy George: A Smile That Shines

Hello, my name is David Price and I have known Jimmy George for nearly 10 years. I first met him while working for the State of Alaska Department of Labor when he came to work under the MASST program, which provides seniors with the training and opportunities to gain employable skills. Jimmy quickly excelled in that position with just his smile, personality, and willingness to help people out, which he has always done. In fact, Jimmy was made famous very quickly with his face and smile on various Labor educational flyers and plastered to windows in downtown Juneau.

This eventually led to Jimmy getting a full-time permanent position with the State as a Wage & Hour Technician, which allowed him to develop both professional and personal friendships with many different employers and contractors throughout the entire State of Alaska, as he was one of the few that you could either see in person or speak with over the phone to get your issues resolved.

Jimmy was even on the Governor's Christmas card list and often bragged about this to his co-workers to make us jealous. His rounds of goodie deliveries to the various offices will be missed, as well as his frequent requests for money so he can go to the Muckleshoot Casino in Seattle.

Unfortunately, Jimmy suffered a brain bleed which has forced him to retire earlier than anticipated. He will need continued physical therapy and other resources, due to the loss of some of his mobility in his hands and feet. Jimmy is a very proud person and didn't want to ask for help, but I believe that he has impacted so many people in this community and throughout Alaska that this was the only way to reach out to them in his time of need.

I am hoping that this post reaches all those that have ever been impacted by Jimmy like I have and continue to be impacted by his friendship and smile.

Jimmy has always put everyone before himself and now it is time to show some appreciation for who he is and to help him out during these difficult times.
