Hi, my name is Frances Campbell and the man in the photo is my husband of 32 years, Jimmy Campbell. Jimmy has never been sick in all the years we have been married, but on April 4, 2025, he became extremely sick, requiring an ambulance ride to the emergency room where he was admitted and kept for 3 days. In less than 12 hours, we were back in the emergency room due to Jimmy becoming even sicker. They said he had a small bowel obstruction and it would resolve itself after a nasal gastric tube was placed. It didn’t resolve itself, and Jimmy had surgery on April 8, 2025 (Tuesday) to clear the obstruction as well as fix an umbilical hernia. Jimmy was discharged on Friday, April 11, 2025, and once again he became extremely ill, so another trip to the emergency room where it was determined that he has an infection in his stomach and intestines that causes massive diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. He couldn’t eat, he barely drank anything, and he ended up losing 28 lbs in 9 days. He became dehydrated and malnourished and just had absolutely no energy to do anything.
Finally, after asking for him to be weighed and finding out the amount of weight he lost, the doctors were shocked to say the least. They immediately placed a PICC Line (I.V. in his artery) and started him on TPN, which is how he is being fed and getting all the nutrition that he lacked for 10-12 days (he didn’t eat at home either).
If any of you know Jimmy, then you know he is a strong-willed, loving, giving, and protective man. He will give a stranger (well, he has never met a stranger) his last dollar if they needed it. If you do know Jimmy, you also know that he has taken care of me and all my hospital/hospice stays and never once asked for help. I’m not as strong as Jimmy has always been, so I’m asking for help. I have been trying to do everything by myself but have found out the hard way that I just cannot do it alone. Jimmy’s medical expenses have taken a toll on us financially as we are both on a fixed income. Jimmy does not know that I am asking for help, and he would never ask anything from others. He would rather give and do without than to receive.
Jimmy is the love of my life as well as my heart and soul. To see him this sick for the first time is heartbreaking for me, but I’m by his side, I have his back, and I’m praying for a full recovery.
Jimmy loves life and especially loves his family. He loves to make people laugh even though he has a strange sense of humor . We just want to get him back to where he was just on April 2,2025 at the Monster Truck Show with James and Kendall Campbell and 3 of our 4 grand children.
Jimmy has made some progress. He drank a cup of coffee today and ate a carton of yogurt. He still has a long road to haul ahead of him, but if any man can do it, then Jimmy can!!
I would like to thank any and everyone in advance that is willing to help us get through this difficult time. Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
With Love and Gratitude,
Frances Campbell
