Our dear friend, Jimmy Amaya, age 63, has been courageously battling Stage 4 Metastatic Lung Cancer (Adenocarcinoma) for the past three years. In April 2022, two bronchoscopies revealed cancer in his left lower lung lobe. Despite undergoing two major surgeries and losing half of his lung, Jimmy faced the challenge head-on with unwavering strength and optimism.
Unfortunately, after months of chemotherapy and numerous scans—including X-rays, CTs, MRIs, and PET scans—doctors discovered in 2023 that the cancer had metastasized to his right lung. Since then, Jimmy has endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy, but none have halted the progression of the disease.
Recently, he spent 10 days hospitalized with pneumonia, further straining his health and finances. Each chemotherapy session comes with a $1,150 copayment, not including hospital stays, tests, and medications. After years of fighting, Jimmy has exhausted his personal savings.
Now, his doctors are preparing to begin an aggressive new chemotherapy regimen. However, Jimmy is unable to work due to the severity of his illness. He is too young to qualify for Medicare and, although he has applied for Social Security Disability, there is a two-year waiting period before Medicare benefits begin.
For those of us who know Jimmy, we can attest to his kind heart, his unwavering positivity, and the light he brings to everyone around him. He and his loving wife, Jeri, need our support now more than ever.
Please consider donating whatever you can to help cover Jimmy’s medical expenses. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. And please keep Jimmy and Jeri in your thoughts and prayers.
