Supporting Jimmie & Sonya Kirksey in Their Time of Heartbreak

On behalf of the Support the Troops Inc. team, we are heartbroken to share that our dear friend and community member, Jimmie Kirksey, has tragically lost his son. Jimmie was unable to reach him before his passing, and now he must travel to make final arrangements and lay his son Jalil Kirksey to rest.

Jalil is an Army Veteran who had a heart transplant about 2 years ago. Last year he spoke at the Heart Walk thanking them for their support. He loved games, puzzles and Lego Sets. He had a zest for life and family and was quite the artist.

We are asking our community to come together and help ease this burden. All donations will support Jimmie’s urgent travel needs—including airfare, rental car, hotel, and food—so he can be present to honor his son and take care of the arrangements no parent should ever have to make.

Jimmie and his wife, Sonya, a proud Air Force Veteran, have poured countless hours of service, love, and support into the Tampa community. They give selflessly, never asking for recognition or assistance.

Now, in their time of unimaginable grief, we humbly ask our community to stand with them—just as they have always stood with others.
