My father, Jim Van Winkle, unexpectedly passed away on June 13th, 2024. He suffered a heart attack while at home with my younger brother, Eli Van Winkle.

My father left behind few assets, and a small mountain of student and medical debt. We are hoping that the majority of this debt will be forgiven, if not all, but it is difficult for us to know for certain. While we were able to save a significant amount of money by planning the funeral independently, we have been left with many expenses that are difficult to cover.

In order to offset the costs, we are hoping to raise $2,795 to cover the expense for his cremation through Wittich-Riley-Freers funeral home in Muscatine, IA. Every donation will make a significant difference in honoring my father’s life and lessening the financial burden his passing left on his three children.
