Hi, I’m Nick. I’m writing this for our close friend, J-Mac, who many of you know has just begun a difficult 7-week course of radiation and chemotherapy to treat recently-diagnosed Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the tonsils and lymph nodes.
The good news is the doctors are confident that with aggressive treatment, he can beat this. And those who know Jim’s tenacious spirit know there’s no one better suited to take the fight to this dreaded disease!
With that said, Jim and his wonderful family need your help.
Like many people who are self-employed, Jim doesn’t have paid medical leave or FMLA protection. Once treatment is fully underway and during recovery, he won’t be able to work much — if at all — which means a sudden and drastic loss of income at the very moment medical and everyday expenses will dramatically rise.
Beyond this, he and Donna, as devoted parents, are navigating tuition obligations for their two children, Erin and Liam, with one finishing college and one gearing up for it.
Even in the best circumstances, that’s a lot to manage. Facing it during cancer treatment adds an overwhelming layer of stress — one that no one should carry alone.
How your financial support will help:
Funds raised through this page will go directly toward helping Jim with:
• replacing lost income during treatment and recovery
• medical costs not fully covered by insurance
• transportation to and from appointments
• everyday household expenses
• keeping his children supported during a critical time in their education
Why this matters:
Cancer treatment is exhausting — both physically and emotionally. Removing even a small amount of financial pressure will give Jim and Donna the peace of mind to focus on what truly matters right now: getting Jim healthy.
If you’ve spent more than 5 minutes with Jim, you’ve been touched by his kindness, generosity, loyalty, and definitely his good humor. PLEASE consider giving today.
Be sure to choose the correct option (One-time gift vs recurring/monthly)!
Any contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference.
Also, please forward this to your network and/or to others who know Jim and might be able to help.
I know I speak for Jim, his family, and closest friends in saying we are all grateful to you for taking the time to read this and for supporting Jim. It truly means more than words can express.
I will provide periodic updates on our progress toward the fundraising goal and whatever I can share on Jim’s condition.
With heartfelt thanks,
