Hello,
I'm Jim Massey and I've been a Type 1 Diabetic for 52 years now. I've taken 2-6 shots per day since I was 5 years of age, and I'm 57 now. I'm also an RN, who is currently working a travel assignment in California. My entire life I knew that I always had to control my diabetes, watch what I eat, and exercise to keep the glucose levels down. Everything seemed to be going fine until August 2020, when I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Pancreatic Cancer. I ended up having surgery to remove part of my pancreas and my spleen. I was told that the cancer was due to long-term diabetes. I have been cancer-free for 5 years now, but the oncologist informed me that due to having diabetes, the possibility of cancer coming back is extremely high during years 5-7, so I started checking out stem cell therapy clinics to help cure my diabetes. There is one particular clinic in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, that deals directly with Type 1 diabetics with a history of Pancreatic Cancer. I've decided that rather than waiting for another tumor to grow, I prefer to cure my diabetes by having my own stem cells medically changed to become pancreatic islet cells, so that my body can create its own insulin, just like a non-diabetic. I can finally be off daily insulin injections after 52 years, and have a much less percentage of regrowth of my pancreatic tumors. The cost of this stem cell therapy is $7800 for this particular clinic, and I must purchase a round-trip plane ticket and food while I'm there. When I was first diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, I had a lot of friends that suggested that I try GoFundMe, but I told them that I would just pay for my own deductible for surgery out of pocket. But this time, I can't afford the stem cell therapy, due to finally paying off the hospital for the surgical case from over 5 years ago. I just want to be able to be normal, and not have to worry about taking injections every day, let alone, worrying about the next 2 years of my cancer returning, which would mean the end of my life. I have a 19-month-old granddaughter, who I absolutely adore, and I have a grandson who will be born in January 2026. I want to be able to be around for many more decades, to see them both do incredible things in life. I want to be able to watch both of my boys, who are in the US Air Force, keep pushing forward in their Air Force careers, because I have never been more proud of anyone, like I am of both of them. I've never asked for help from anyone, but this time I really need the help, so that I can see my grandkids grow up and have continued success in life. Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated, as it helps cure me from something that I've had since 5 years of age, and also helps me stay clear of my cancer returning. Thank you for whatever help you can provide. I appreciate you!
