Support Jim Harlan's Legacy and Family
Donation protected
On 4/20/2024, we all lost an amazing human being, a shining light, a man who touched so many lives with his spirit, kindness, and humor. Jim Harlan was not only a great friend to many but a pioneer who made us all stand in awe of his accomplishments. Jim was on the Crested Butte Ski Patrol for over 20 years and to this day, the only quadriplegic ski patroller in the world. He taught others with disabilities how to ski through the Adaptive Sports Center. He was a preschool teacher with a twinkle in his eye who touched the lives of so many children who attended Stepping Stones in Crested Butte. He was an artist, a comedian, a great dancer, and unrelenting in his personal beliefs as part of the "Truther Movement". Jim spent the last number of years traveling and living in various places outside of his beloved Crested Butte, and unfortunately many of us lost touch as he preferred to stay off of social platforms. We all have many storied memories of our times with Jim and because of our desire to share these stories and honor his legacy, there will be a celebration of his life in Crested Butte on August 16th, which was coined "Jim Harlan Day " after his 2002 World Hand Cycling gold medal win.
Jim's family will be hosting not one but two services, with a more formal memorial on Saturday, May 4th at Tower Community Fellowship in Aurora, CO.
Please help support the family of Jim Harlan, so we may all be there to raise a glass to our beloved Jimbo.
Donations will be used for memorial expenses incurred by Jim's family.
