Support Jim and Vince in Their Time of Need
Donation protected
Our beloved friend, teacher, mentor, and loved one, Jim McCormick, has been by the side of his husband and partner for nearly 20 years now. As many of you know, Vince was admitted to the hospital a few weeks ago for multiple issues, was discharged, and now is back in the hospital as of the early morning hours of March 17, 2025. We nearly lost him a few times.
For the most part, Jim has been living at the hospital during the day, and only coming home in the evenings as they both continue to navigate the rickety system they call Desert Regional Medical Center. It continues to be a difficult journey for them both. When Vince was discharged after his recent hospitalization, he required 24/7 care at home, and Jim was providing that with the help of close friends. Due to Vince’s continuing multiple health issues, this level of care is expected to continue for an unknown time period. Adding to the burden of in-home care, Vince also needs assistance to go for dialysis sessions three times a week.
Vince is retired and on a very low fixed income. With Jim unable to teach and having to cancel classes for several months now, their financial situation is becoming very concerning.
With an unknown road ahead as far as Vince’s health, it is important that we come together to lift them up financially. With our support, Jim can let go of the burden of being the principal in-home caregiver so he can more clearly make life-affirming decisions for his husband. This would include having enough money so that Jim can continue to support himself and Vince and also pay for in-home care. We all want Jim to get back to teaching full-time, and we also wish Vince a speedy recovery.
My name is David Whitener, and I am setting up this GoFundMe page on Jim and Vince's behalf to assist them during these difficult times. All contributions received will go directly to Jim McCormick, excluding GoFundMe transaction fees. I have known Jim for nearly 30 years and continue to study with him and perform in his classes. This GoFundMe page was built and launched with Jim’s permission and understanding.
