Support Jill's Recovery from Third Heart Surgery
Donation protected
It is with Jill's permission that I share this:
Hey all, some of you know and some don't, but just wanted to let everyone know that Jill is in the hospital in Houston. She had to have her 3rd open-heart surgery. Yes, 3rd!!! We have been here since last Wednesday, transferred via fixed wing from Wichita (because of the complexity of her case). They did allow me to fly with her. (Prior to that, she had not been feeling good for about a week. She was in the ER in Lincoln and after a CT determined that she needed to go to Wichita, so they flew her there by helicopter.) Her surgery was late Wednesday night; they told me to expect at least 12 hours. They sent her there because the surgeon specializes in what she needed. That was to reconstruct the aortic arch (so the great vessels on the top of her heart). This is a big deal to begin with and an even bigger deal when it's already been done once!! The surgery actually was only about 7 1/2 hours long, and they did not have to do anything with her valve, which is a huge relief.
We have had a few setbacks and some bumps in the road and may have some more, but currently, she is doing pretty darn good. She is awake and can talk to me and has even given me some shit in true Jill fashion.
So one of the setbacks was, she had some episodes of her heart going really fast and then really slow. They did not like that, so while she had a temporary pacemaker in place, they decided she should have a permanent one. So with that, we had to start over with being on the ventilator again and working her way off again. She was able to do that yesterday.
She is so strong and is working so hard at getting better. She can use all the prayers and good vibes she can get.
We will be setting up a GoFundMe for her ASAP. Please, if you feel inclined to help her in any way, be that in a prayer, a donation, or whatever, it is much appreciated.
