Support Jill's Fight: ICU and Beyond

Hi, I'm Jay Williams. Jill Williams-Shockley is my sister. The past few months, she has not been feeling well. She had a virus, and then took a pretty severe fall resulting in extensive bruising. For several weeks, she was so tired and lethargic, she could barely move. Finally, when getting out of bed one day, her legs gave out. She asked her husband to call paramedics to help her back up. When they arrived, they told her she needed to go to the hospital immediately. Turns out she had an ulcer and had severe internal infections. The doctors didn't know if she would survive. She hadn't gone to the doctor for these issues due to lack of money. If she hadn't collapsed and had her husband call for help, she would probably be dead now.

She is in the ICU now and will be for at least a few more days, followed by a few days in a typical hospital room, I suspect. We're learning as we go. I have no idea what her medical expenses will be, but she hasn't been flying much over the past few months due to winter weather, her illness, and a slow-down in hiring by the airlines. As I said, she didn't go to the doctor due to lack of money, and now the expenses will be FAR greater than what she could have anticipated. On top of that are other typical, family medical expenses along with food, rent, and other normal expenses.

She has applied for government assistance with these medical expenses, but I suspect those won't be horribly generous and that if this fund raiser brings in any excess cash, it would be an incredible encouragement to her and Dave. I assume stress contributed to the ulcer, but I'm no expert. I'm sure that having some financial relief would greatly reduce the stress she's going through.
