Jill Hawkins is a devoted friend, personal trainer, and single mother who has always gone above and beyond for those around her. Recently, Jill was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare and serious autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks the peripheral nerves. She has had two ER visits and many tests, including a hospital stay of 5 days with IV treatments for GBS. Jill has just undergone infusion therapy at Kaiser Hospital in San Rafael and has now been discharged, awaiting results to determine how effective the treatment has been. During this uncertain time, Jill has been advised to rest and refrain from work for the foreseeable future. Full recovery can take months, during which her physical activity may be constrained—a serious impediment to her work as a physical trainer.
Jill’s only source of income comes from her work as a physical trainer, primarily serving clients at The Tamalpias Marin, a retirement community in Greenbrae, CA. As a single mother raising a teenage daughter, this sudden inability to work has placed a significant financial strain on her family. The duration of her recovery and time away from work will depend on how well her body responds to the treatment she has received.
Donations to this fundraiser will go directly toward covering Jill’s medical bills, essential living expenses, and supporting both her and her daughter while she is unable to work. Jill is a truly giving person, known for developing strong personal bonds with her clients, who see her as much a friend as a trainer. Our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who chooses to support Jill during this challenging time and help her stay on her feet until she can return to a normal life.
Jill is recovering at home now but is very fatigued by the least effort. However, her recovery is going well according to the doctors and it will just take time to recover her strength and be able to go back to her normal work and life.
