Officer Jett beloved Retired Police Horse

Donation protected
Retired Mounted Horse, Officer Jett, is accepting help.

UPDATE***
In true police form, he fought hard his last few weeks with us. He beat every medical challenge that came his way. His passing was unexpected, and heartbreaking to watch.

This next step will be difficult too. With vet bills still coming in, having him creamated and a proper honorable retired police officer memorial.

I have a few asks...
- those that have Jett stories or photos of themselves with Jett, please send them to me
-please continue to share and encourage others to donate.
************
It's been 3 days since Jett ate, and he's only consumed 1.5 gal of water. [Normally horses consume 5-15 gal per day. Jett eats about 30# of food per day]
This past weekend, when cleaning his stall we found evidence of Enteroliths.

For those of you that don't know (I had to research this myself) enteroliths are calcifications or mineral masses that can form in the horse's intestines, sometimes resulting in impaction colic.

Colic to a horse is a stomach ache to us humans. Many horses die from colic, so this situation is very serious.

The vet has come out 3 times now, helping us to get Jett healthy and back to his spunky self.

Unfortunately, I am 1 person, and my budget for Jett is limited, so I'm asking for help from the community.

Jett is a special horse. He was a police horse for about 12 years. He patrolled the streets and protected his rider and the community every day. He played a vital role in countless city festivals, community events & celebrations, along with the more challenging work at the RNC, TC Marathon, Grandmas Marathon, Redbull Crashed Ice, and many other stressful situations.

People that would normally avoid the police, would curiously approach us, asking us questions, including wanting to pet Jett. Jett visited many schools & classes, helping to teach kids how to handle an emergency & how police help their community. Jett grew to love younger kids. He could bring about any child out of their shell & brought a smile to their face.

There was one detail we had at an elementary school. Jett had 25 kindergardners yelling, arms-extended, reaching and jumping to pet him. At one point I looked over at him, and he was napping! Through the chaos of children, he felt so comfortable, safe & loved, he became so calm, he passed out!!

Jett retired from the police department in 2017. I (his last human partner) adopted him and I've done my best to give him the best retirement life he has earned. Even though he retired from the police department, he has maintained an active role in the law enforcement community. He has played a role in Line of Duty death funerals thru LEMA (Law enforcement Memorial Association). He has also taught dozens of kids about horses, how to ride horses, and how amazingly brave a horse can be.

Selfishly, I want to do everything humanly possible to give him the vet care he needs... but I need financial help to accomplish that.

I know this time of year is financially difficult for all of us, but every little bit helps. My hope is to have as many people donate, just a little, until we reach our goal.

I'm praying often and hard, hoping the community he made such a positive impact on (educating, protecting & serving), will have his back now, when he needs it most.

Thank you.
God Bless.
