My name is Liz and my best friend's dog was bit on his rear leg by an eastern diamondback snake yesterday while playing in his backyard. He immediately started showing signs of swelling and drooling, and they rushed him into the ER vet to be treated. His clotting factors were severely diminished, resulting in several doses of anti-venom, two blood plasma transfusions, and IV fluids. He was transferred over to a 24-hour ICU care facility where he is making progress but still has a very long road ahead of him. They are still having to give doses of anti-venom, and his leg is still swelling, but he is eating and seems in good spirits. They are hopeful he is going to recover but will need long-term treatment.
Because of the cost of anti-venom, 24-hour care, and several blood transfusions, the vet bills have added up very quickly. My best friend, Jen, and her husband, Nick, are too humble to create their own GoFundMe or to ask for help. They live north of Tampa, Florida, and I am in San Antonio, Texas, and I am trying to help in any way I can.
Jet is a 5-year-old Whippet who was adopted when he was 2 years old. He instantly clicked with their other Whippet, Lydia, and the pair have been inseparable ever since. He is a sweet, sweet boy who just likes to cuddle with his mom and play frisbee.

Below are the two estimates they were given. #1 was from the initial ER visit and #2 is from the 24-hour ICU hospital.
