Update – December 26

With heavy hearts, we share that Jesus Garcia passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 26th, following his long and courageous battle with cancer.

Jesus was a fighter in every sense of the word, facing each challenge with strength, humor, and a deep love for his family and the students he dedicated his life to serving. His impact on so many lives will never be forgotten.

As we honor Jesus’s life and legacy, the funds raised will now be used to help cover funeral and memorial expenses and to support his family during this time of loss.

We are reaching out with heavy hearts but also with immense hope. Our dear friend, Jesus Garcia, has been courageously battling stage 4 liver cancer for about a year now. This isn't Jesus’s first fight—just a few years ago, he faced and beat stage 2 colon cancer, proving his incredible resilience and strength. Now, we’re asking for your support to help him through this next chapter in his fight.

For those who know Jesus, you know he’s more than just a great person—he’s a pillar of strength, compassion, and humor in so many lives. He has dedicated his career to working with children who have behavioral, emotional, and learning disabilities; offering them guidance, support, and care. Beyond his duties in the classroom, Jesus also coaches the school’s sports teams, giving these kids the incredible opportunity to feel the joy and camaraderie of being on a team.

Even while undergoing treatment, Jesus pushes himself to come into work whenever he is able, often despite feeling sick or tired. He knows how much his work team relies on him and how important his presence is to the kids, and he draws strength from being with them—it’s part of what helps him continue to fight. His dedication to others, even in the face of his own challenges, is a testament to his character and the love he has for his work and his family.

Jesus has always put others first, often sacrificing his own needs to help the students he works with, his friends, and his beloved family—his fiancée and his two amazing children. His commitment to his family and his work is unmatched.

Despite the physical and emotional toll of fighting cancer, Jesus’s spirit remains strong. But as you can imagine, the financial burden of ongoing medical treatments and the time needed for healing has weighed heavily on him. The funds raised here will help Jesus and his family manage the mounting expenses—things like unexpected medical costs, transportation to and from the hospital, meals, and the time off work that Jesus needs to focus on his health.
