Hello, my name is Jess and I'm trying to raise money for myself and several members of my strike team to pay their living expenses this month.

We are members of the IBEW 46 limited energy strike and have not been working since April 11th. We have been on the picket lines fighting for a fair contract in the sun wind and rain for over two months. We've gotten strike pay for picketing, which works out to about 1/3-1/2 our working wages, and to no one's surprise, it is not enough to meet our financial obligations (the cost of living in and around Seattle where we live and work is wild, hence the strike for better wages and benefits). Our savings have been depleted but bills are still due.

It's hard for many of us, because we're used to working hard and taking care of our families independently, asking for help, but we need it. I want to try to support my team as best I can because I know how hard we've fought during this strike. This money will go towards housing, making sure none of these folks face eviction for standing up for their rights.

As union siblings, we believe in the power of collective action, so any donation of $5, 10, 20, adds up. Together we can reach our goals!

We got word 6/18/24 that the strike would be ending 6/20/24. That means gladly, many of us will be getting back to work, however we won't receive a full week's check until July 5th.

Personal note: I personally received a layoff call about three hours after the strike ending announcement was made, but in spite of what our negotiation opponents tried to say, a lot of work is happening right now and I don't expect to be out of work more than a week or two.
