Jess is my dear friend, and she has always been a source of kindness and support for those around her. Recently, Jess faced a major challenge: she underwent heart surgery due to complications from Turner syndrome.
In Jess’s own words: “For me, having Turner Syndrome (TS) has significantly increased the risk of acute aortic dissection—a life-threatening tearing of the aortic wall—and aortic valve defects, most commonly a bicuspid aortic tear. Even though I had unexplained chest pain, severe heartburn, and some acute back pain, as a patient with Turner syndrome, these symptoms should be taken extremely seriously and investigated immediately. That was when they discovered a tear on the night of 4/3 after a regular day with my boyfriend and his sister. Treatment often involves strict blood pressure management, frequently with beta-blockers, and in some cases, prophylactic aortic surgery. I will continue to be monitored for the need for a pacemaker and just enjoy being a part of this community so much.”
The costs associated with Jess’s recovery are significant. She is facing medical bills and expenses that go beyond what insurance can cover, including follow-up appointments, medications, and the support she needs to heal and regain her strength. Jess has always given so much to others, and now it’s our turn to help her receive the same love and care she shares so freely.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference in Jess’s journey. Your support will help ease the financial burden and allow her to focus on getting better. Thank you for considering a gift to help Jess—together, we can show her that she’s not alone and that her community is here for her.
