Hi and thank you for coming to our GoFundMe!
I’m raising funds for my sweet girl, Jessie, to be able to get surgery and rehab after that.
I adopted Jessie in August of 2022 from the Leadville Lake County Animal Shelter in Colorado. She was rescued from a euthanasia list by my friend who runs the shelter there. She was found in the desert of New Mexico with porcupine quills in her face, running with some other dogs. She was taken to a shelter and was there for six months without anybody claiming her and was therefore put on a euthanasia list. My friend reaches out to shelters when there is room in her shelter for other dogs and pulls them off the list. I was so lucky because she pulled Jessie off that list. She drove her back up to Leadville, Colorado, where my former boss ended up being her foster mom, and I fell in love.
When I first took her home, she was scared of everything and everyone. Leadville is a town of about 2,000, and she was afraid of cars on “Main Street,” which is about three blocks long. Over the last three years, she has come out of her shell and is now the goofiest, most loving little muffin, and she’s definitely my soul dog.
Now to the reason for making this GoFundMe – Jessie is only 5 years old and was diagnosed with an injury to her right cranial cruciate ligament (similar to an ACL tear in people), with concern for a possible associated meniscal (cartilage) injury.
She unfortunately was in a situation in which she severely injured her right hind leg and she can’t bear weight on it.
Jessie will need surgery and rehab after the surgery itself. This is what she needs to be able to live the rest of her life happily and comfortably, and I’ll do anything to help her get there.
The surgery itself is $6,000, which doesn’t include rehab. I do have a CareCredit card, but it’s currently maxed out and I’m unable to increase the credit limit. I’ve set the goal to be able to get her surgery and rehab appointments after that.
Any and all assistance or advice to help my girl get on all 4 paws is greatly appreciated. Jessie deserves to be able to run and jump and dig and, of course, get her nightly zoomies in promptly at 8 pm.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and/or donating and sharing our GoFundMe!
