As most of you now know, my niece Jessie found out last week that she had a large tumor on her brain. St. Thomas said it’s one of the largest they have seen, yet to date to successfully operate on. But the surgery took place yesterday and she came through it! This is a praise report, and thank you to all who prayed! You know who you are. I saw her on Sunday, and Jessie was in good spirits. If you know her, you know how strong she is. She seemed more concerned for all of us in the room than for herself. She even asked her mom, “mama, did you eat?” and refused to eat anything until they brought another tray of breakfast for her mom. This is Jessie’s style—she is always thinking of everyone else in the room besides herself.

Speaking of her mom, Sherri has taken off work and has not left Jessie’s side since she was admitted. While asking what she needed on the phone last night, she said, “I’m good.” And knowing Sherri and my brother, Jessie got it honest. We are not a “hand out” family. Sherri works hard at Tennsco in Dickson, and she has been out of work for some time now so she could stay by Jessie’s side while she’s been at St. Thomas for the last few days getting prepared for the surgery that took place yesterday. Recovery for Jessie will be long, and she will be in the ICU for at least 10 more days.
