This family needs your help!
On Friday,
October 24th, Jessie and her two daughters were in a terrible car accident — They were on their way home from a trunk-or-treat Halloween event at the Fred Nats Stadium when everything changed.
Thanks to Jessie’s quick thinking, she immediately went into mommy mode, doing anything and everything to save her girls, heart racing a million miles a second. Jessie yanked Ella out first and threw her as far from the car as she could.
Then she went back for Valorie — but Val’s costume had gotten caught in her car seat buckle, trapping her. Jessie tried to pull the entire car seat out, but it wouldn’t budge. She kept pulling, ripping, and begging it to come loose while the flames started burning right through her. Still, there was no way she was leaving her daughter behind.
Finally, Jessie managed to get Valorie free. They took only a few steps before the car exploded right behind them. The blast knocked the breath out of them — it was the loudest, scariest moment of their lives.
But by the grace of God, Jessie and her girls made it out alive — with not a single scratch on those beautiful children.
Jessie, however, suffered multiple third-degree burns from standing in the fire while rescuing her girls. She is currently being treated at the VCU Critical Care Burn Center, where she has already undergone two skin graft surgeries to repair her body. Her recovery will be long and difficult, but she has remained unbelievably strong through it all.
No family ever thinks something like this will happen to them — until it does. We are beyond grateful that all three of them are still here with us today, but now this family needs our help. With unexpected medical bills, the loss of her vehicle, and the holidays fast approaching, let’s rally together and support Jessie and her family during this incredibly hard time.
Their children are being cared for by family, while Jessie focuses on healing, with Kyler by her side every step of the way. This family is under enormous stress, as you can imagine, so any donation — big or small — will make a huge difference in easing their financial burden.
