Supporting Jessica Johanson Through Spinal Cancer and Treatment
Organized by Annie Wilkinson
Hi,
My name is Annie Wilkinson, and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my daughter, Jessica Johanson. Jessica is a loving and devoted mother to Evelyn (10) and Trent (8), a partner to Michael Johanson, an exercise and health enthusiast, a dedicated hairstylist, and a caretaker to me as I navigate life with Parkinson’s disease.
Just two weeks ago, Jessica experienced what began as mild pelvic pain. That pain quickly progressed into weakness and loss of function in her lower body, leaving her unable to walk unassisted, drive, or exercise. After four days in the hospital (including Christmas Day) and nine MRIs, the doctors finally discovered the cause: a rare, one-in-a-million spinal bone tumor called a chordoma, located near the base of her spine.
While we are grateful to finally have answers to this devastating medical mystery, navigating the road ahead will be a significant ordeal. Thankfully, Jessica’s prognosis is good — especially considering the challenges these tumors can bring — but her treatment will be intensive. She will undergo surgery to remove part of her spine in an area close to major nerves, possibly followed by radiation, and she will require MRI monitoring for the rest of her life.
During her anticipated three-month treatment and recovery period, Jessica will be unable to work, resulting in the loss of her primary income — income that her family depends on. The GoFundMe donations will help cover essential living expenses such as housing, utilities, groceries, childcare needs, and transportation to medical appointments so Jessica can focus fully on healing.
So many kind friends and family have reached out asking how they can help. Your messages, prayers, and support have already meant more than words can express. If you feel moved to donate, please know that every contribution — no matter the amount — will make a meaningful difference to Jessica and her family during this difficult time.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love, compassion, and generosity. God bless you, and we will continue to share updates as Jessica progresses through treatment and recovery.
With gratitude,
Annie Wilkinson and Family
