Hi, I'm Jessica! I've been dealing with various health issues for the past five years, had foot and hip surgery, and thought I was on my way to getting back in shape and able to work again. But my symptoms have continued to be bad, and last month I finally got some answers in the form of diagnoses (in progress) for POTS, hypermobility, and a couple other chronic illnesses on top of the chronic migraines I already knew about.
While it's good to have a better idea of what's going on, this information has required a huge shift in my expectations of going back to work. I'm in the process of many doctor visits, physical therapy, therapy, and med changes. I have some work I can do from home, as a writer and social media manager, but the nanny work that was my regular income is off the table for now, at least till I have better treatments in place. I'm applying for grants, pursuing other forms of work, and looking into applying for disability, but it's all a lot when I'm tired and dizzy most of the time.
I'm hoping to raise $5000 in support to get me through the next few months of transition. This breaks down to $2000 x 2 in monthly expenses (rent, food, utilities, etc.), $500 for specialized physical therapy for joint stabilization, and $250 for functional aids such as compression garments and a wedge to lift the head of my bed, and $250 for medications and supplements.
I appreciate any support you're able to give, and always pay it forward when I can. Thank you!
