Help Support Jessica Through Life-Saving Thoracic Endometriosis Surgery
Our incredible and beautiful friend Jessica is currently facing an extremely rare and life-threatening medical challenge.
After years of silently enduring pain and unexplained symptoms, Jessica was diagnosed with deeply infiltrating endometriosis, a disease where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows where it doesn’t belong. For many women, this disease is isolated to the pelvic area—but in Jessica’s case, it has progressed into a rare and extremely dangerous form known as thoracic endometriosis.
This aggressive form of endometriosis has spread to her diaphragm, lungs, and liver, causing severe internal damage and leading to multiple spontaneous lung collapses. Doctors have now confirmed multiple tears in her diaphragm, which are allowing her liver to herniate into her chest cavity—a highly dangerous and painful complication that puts her at constant risk of respiratory failure, cardiac stress, and organ trauma.
Why This Surgery Is So Complex—and So Urgently Needed
Jessica requires a rare, highly specialized surgery that can only be performed by a multidisciplinary team of three surgeons, all working together in one operating room:
• A gynecologic excision specialist to remove endometriosis lesions from the diaphragm, liver capsule, and chest wall
• A thoracic surgeon to protect and stabilize her lungs
• A hepatic/diaphragm surgeon to repair the torn diaphragm and prevent further liver herniation
This area of the body is so sensitive and densely packed with critical anatomy that her hepatic surgeon referred to it as “tiger country”—a term used to describe one of the most technically dangerous regions to operate on. Every movement must be precise. Every decision must be made in perfect collaboration.
Jessica’s surgical team—one of the few in the U.S. qualified to perform this procedure—has reviewed her case and is prepared to help her. But because each surgeon is out-of-network and bills separately, and because of the complexity of the case, the total out-of-pocket cost will exceed $200,000.
This includes:
• Surgical and facility fees for all three specialists
• Hospital support and post-op care
• Pre- and post-operative imaging, labs, medications
• And a required minimum 9-day stay near Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, which may be extended depending on what surgeons encounter during the operation and how Jessica recovers
How You Can Help
Jessica is one of the most humble, loving, and giving people we know. As a pediatric occupational therapist, she’s devoted her life to helping children with developmental delays, disabilities, and sensory challenges—bringing joy, hope, and lasting transformation to countless families.
Now, she needs our help.
She will be unable to work for a significant time while she recovers. Her incredible husband Ryan will be taking time off from work to be by her side and serve as her full-time caregiver during this process.
Our goal is to ease the overwhelming financial burden so Jessica and her family can focus fully on what matters most: healing, hope, and reclaiming her life.
Whether you can contribute financially, help spread the word, or simply offer love and support—everything helps.
Every Gift Makes a Difference
We are raising funds to cover:
• The life-saving, multi-surgeon surgery Jessica needs
• Medical testing, hospital fees, and facility costs
• Travel and temporary relocation to New York for surgery and recovery
• Time away from work and ongoing post-op support
Every dollar brings us closer to giving Jessica the chance to live safely and fully—free from the pain and fear that has haunted her for decades.
We are so grateful for your generosity, your kindness, and your prayers.
With love and deepest thanks,
Courtney
