We have known and loved Jess as a best friend for over 25 years. Jess is one of our "Fab Five" girls, our core group of girlfriends we established back at Linn Mar middle school in Marion, IA. Our friendship is one that has lasted the test of time and we have been there for each other every step of the way. Through the good times and the bad over all these years we love and support, lift each other up and are always there to listen and make each other laugh. Jess is truly one of our sisters and we love her so much.
Jess is a wife to Dustin, a mom to her two young sons, Levi and Landon, and a first grade teacher in New Hampton, IA. She brings compassion, patience, positivity and kindness to everyone she meets. In 2022, Jess bravely fought and beat stage 2 breast cancer and was declared cancer-free in 2023. Since then she has been thriving. It’s heartbreaking to share that her cancer has returned, and this time it’s more aggressive—stage 3.
Jess' new cancer journey will be extremely tough for her and her family. She will be traveling to Mayo Clinic for all of her appointments and procedures, including 12-18 weeks of chemotherapy, surgery to remove cancerous axillary lymph nodes, and radiation every weekday for 3-6 weeks. She will also undergo targeted therapy for a year and endocrine therapy for 5-10 years. The extensive travel and treatment plan will create significant stress and financial strain, with costs for travel, lodging, medical bills, and lost wages. Jess and her husband Dustin will also need help caring for their two boys while they are away often for treatment.
Jess is one of the strongest, bravest, and most positive people you will ever meet. She and her family need all the support, prayers and positive thoughts they can get. In addition any monetary support will help ease the extra burdens this journey brings and make a real difference for them. Thank you for considering helping Jess and her family during this incredibly challenging time. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers while they navigate this new journey.
She will beat this cancer again this time around and win this fight for good!
