Support Jessica's Fight Against MS and Dental Pain

Hi I’m Oliver and I’m doing this to help raise money for my mom’s medical needs.

My mom, Jessica Davis, is struggling to cover the cost to get her the oral health treatment she needs. My mom is 49 years old, and is going to be 50 this October. She is a mother of 4 children, who all deeply care about her and her health. My mom has MS, multiple sclerosis, and was diagnosed in her early 20s. Her MS has always been a fact us kids knew about our mom. We have seen her have to get steroids by nurses who would come into our home, so her MS could stop flaring up. This was a fairly normal occurrence for us when we were younger. My mom’s MS has been in remission for a number of years now, and she was doing well with it. So well her doctors have said she is “lucky” compared to others with this disease.

My mom started having teeth problems in 2001, because the steroids had started decaying the bones. My mom started having more noticeable problems with her teeth back in 2019, when her first tooth was removed. The doctor’s had always stressed that teeth problems would happen because of the steroids, and the fact that both of her parents had the condition called periodontitis. It is a progressively inflammatory disease of the gums, which can lead to bone and tissue loss resulting in tooth decay and loss. But my mom needed those steroids because of her MS. Because of Covid causing problems with scheduling people in, she did not get the care she needed for the tooth in a timely manner. She has tried everything to get this problem resolved. Going to multiple different doctors. Waiting and waiting to be seen.

The tooth pain flared up her TMJ nerve which is very painful for her, and caused her to not eat on the affected side of her face. The pain was unbearable. It was horrible to watch my mom be in pain, and nothing could be done to help. Except waiting on a doctor who would do the procedure. We found out in March insurance won’t cover it because she has “too many teeth left” for the procedure.

Her affected tooth has now rotted in her mouth. Since around December 2024 she has been complaining about her teeth more. She has lost most of the tooth now. She found out in April of 2025 that she has a nasty tooth infection. The dentist she saw didn’t really want to help her. It was a fight for my mom to get a temporary filling that day. But the pain came back that night. The dentist also prescribed her a high dose of antibiotics. She was in the hospital in January and was almost admitted because of sepsis. The hospital at the time did not pick up on the fact she had a tooth infection.

Because of this tooth infection she has ulcers, battling UTIs that can’t be fought back because her body is already trying to fight off another infection, and her MS is starting to flare up again. Because of being on the antibiotics she can not get the medication to help her MS stop flaring up. My mom’s immune system cannot handle all these infections at once. We are a poor family. We can not pay out of pocket for her to get the tooth removed and get dentures put in. My mom is a fighter. She has had to be with diseases like MS and fibromyalgia which causes her constant pain and health related issues. Her teeth are another side effect of rounds of steroids over the years to keep the MS in check. My mom survived almost dying of Covid in 2021. I know she can fight this too, but she needs help to get the proper procedure and care to beat this infection. Which is pulling out her tooth and getting dentures put in.

This isn’t about vanity, this is about her pain and her overall health. Because the infections, ulcers, and autoimmune diseases are all in a downward spiral and it can get bad quick. So we would like to stop that from happening. As she shouldn’t be struggling, or have possibly a worst fate all because of a tooth infection.

I know everyone is struggling for money in these trying times. Everyone is struggling to pay medical bills and expenses, especially if you are from a fixed income household like mine. We know the goal amount is a lot but even if we could get anywhere between $1,000 and $1,500, that would be super helpful. I urge you to donate whatever you can to help my mom get the care she needs. My dad, siblings, her friends, and pets all rely on her in so many ways. We love her, and want her to be healthy and to live her best life. Thank you so much❤️
