Jessica Washington is a devoted wife, mother, and proud Gigi who has served the Sherman Piner Middle School community for the past 10 years as a bus driver and teacher’s aide. On Thanksgiving Day, Jessica was unexpectedly diagnosed with a brain tumor.

She underwent an emergency craniotomy to remove the tumor and spent several days in the ICU, followed by inpatient rehabilitation. Although she has since been discharged from the hospital, she received devastating news: the tumor was diagnosed as a Grade 4 glioblastoma.

Jessica is now under the care of a neurosurgeon and oncologist and will also be seeing a specialist at UT Southwestern. As she begins chemotherapy and radiation treatments, she will need to travel to and from UT Southwestern several days each week. In addition, efforts are underway to have her accepted into a clinical trial.

We are asking for donations to help cover transportation costs, medical bills, and out-of-pocket prescription expenses. We know times are difficult and the holidays are approaching, but any contribution—no matter the amount—will make a difference.
