Our dear friend Jess, who has worked for Bard and I helping with our rental home for over 8 years is in need of your help! On Saturday morning her husband was picked up by ICE when shopping at Home Depot. These are some of kindest and hardest working people I have ever met. They have lived in the U.S for over 20 years, and are putting two daughters through college. This disruption to their lives is nothing short of catastrophic. They have done everything properly to attain their green cards, and have a lawyer who is working with them. That said the financial burden of her husband not being able to work for an undetermined amount of time, (he is a contractor), the legal fees- upwards of $7k, as well as supporting their two daughters, they are going to need a lot of financial support while he is in detention. I am hesitant to share too much personal information about them, as I don't want to put them in further danger, but please if you are able to donate any amount to help them navigate this very difficult and traumatic situation, it would be greatly appreciated!
