Support Jessica's Battle with Lupus

Many of you know me and some of my story, but I’ll give a brief summary for those who do not. My name is Jessica and I have Lupus. In 2017, my health took a turn. In 2019, I was diagnosed with cutaneous and SLE lupus along with a handful of other autoimmune disorders. I started treatment and continued working as a medical assistant, which was extremely hard being on immunosuppressants. In 2020, I went through a divorce that induced stress causing my lupus to go crazy. In 2023, I was employed at an urgent care in Tecumseh where I was working four twelve-hour shifts. At the end of 2023 that caught up to me and I had a seizure at work and the doctor had to call 911. This is when I stopped working due to being more of a liability than help. I have been denied for disability twice now, even with documentation stating I have a high morbidity rate. It’s currently with a lawyer and we are requesting a hearing, but that’s going to take an additional five months.

Being out of work for this long of a period has put me in a financial hardship. I’m fortunate enough to have family that have helped me this far, but I have three children so I can’t risk having my bills disconnected. Anything given will be used toward utilities or basic needs. I never thought I’d be in this position but appreciate everyone who has stuck this through with me .I'm fundraising to cover my living expenses and support my children during this difficult time.
