My name is Mariana and I am asking for your support for my friend Jessica — nurse, wife, friend and a cat’s favorite human.

On the night of March 26, 2024, Jessica was involved in a major car accident when her car was hit by a driver recklessly speeding. After an extensive effort by First Responders to extricate her from the mangled car, Jessica was life-flighted to a trauma 1 center in Austin, TX, where her extensive injuries could be better treated. Left with a serious traumatic brain injury as well as multiple broken ribs, collar bone, shoulder blade and damaged brachial plexus on her left side, Jessica spent nearly two weeks in the ICU receiving life-saving care and fighting for her life. And fight she did.

Jessica’s tenacity and strength has been on full display these last few months as she went from life-support in the ICU to a step down unit to rehab and now, home. Her recovery is in progress but far from over. Jessica will need time and the care of specialists to help her heal and find her new normal.

Jessica’s life has been devoted to service. As a soldier, an Army spouse and most recently, as a nurse, her dedication to others is at the core of how she lives her life. She’s a skilled crafter, has a sharp and witty personality, and is one of the strongest people I know. It’s said that sometimes the strongest among us need our help the most, and Jessica needs our help now. Her income has been significantly reduced and her recovery will be arduous. Her focus should be on healing and not on financial strain. If you can help, please do.
