Support Jessica Through Second Cancer Diagnosis

I did not want to believe it when my sister-in-law confirmed the news we dreaded to hear…the lump she found was breast cancer.

Jessica was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) at the young age of 39. At the time, she was on maternity leave from her full-time job with her youngest child and still breastfeeding when she found the lump.

Jessica used an integrative approach to healing by using both conventional treatments (chemotherapy, surgery, radiation) as well as complementary and alternative medical treatments. She was surrounded by love and covered in prayers.

Her treatments were successful.

There was a tremendous financial burden placed on Jessica’s family. Through a lot of sacrifice, they got through it, but the impact remains.

-------

Four years after her initial diagnosis, Jessica has now been diagnosed with breast cancer for a second time. The IDC has returned, and she now has inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) as well. According to the American Cancer Society, IBC is rare, and it is considered an aggressive cancer because it grows quickly, is more likely to have spread at the time it’s found, and is more likely to come back after treatment than other types of breast cancer.

Jessica is a devoted wife to Robert, who is equally devoted to her.

Jessica is a mother to three young children: Jackson, age 10; Evan, age 7; and River, age 4.

She is a daughter, a sister, a niece, a cousin, an aunt, a friend, a co-worker, a daughter-in-law, a sister-in-law.

We do not want to accept this awful reality. So many of you reading know this reality all too well.

The physical and emotional burden is so heavy on its own. My fervent hope is to lift the financial burden that this insidious disease causes so she can focus on healing completely.

All money raised will go toward the costs of deductibles, co-insurance, out-of-pocket expenses for complementary and alternative medical treatments, and to cover loss of income not covered by disability. Even after all treatment is completed (which includes more chemotherapy, double mastectomy, and possibly more radiation), she will continue with ongoing follow-up visits and scans, as well as continued dedication to regaining her health and maintaining it permanently.

Jessica remains steadfast in her faith in God. Her family and friends were inspired time and time again by her resolve to heal from cancer when she was first diagnosed four years ago. Lifting this weight off her family’s shoulders will provide the peace of mind she requires to get through this again.
