Support Jessica: Teacher Facing Tax Crisis
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Jessica and I spent most of my life in Florida where I was born and raised until I moved to Ohio. I have been living in Ohio for several years, working as a teacher for most of those years with a few exceptions during Covid where I worked warehouse jobs and serving jobs. I am no stranger to hard work as I have several times worked multiple jobs which I am currently doing. I work three jobs as well as complete school online full time. What I am a stranger to is RITA. The regional income tax agency that apparently exists in Ohio. I had never heard of RITA until about a week ago when I received a letter in the mail stating I had just two weeks to file my taxes through them for the last 7 years. I was shocked. How is it possible to wait 7 years to tell someone apparently you are supposed to file separate taxes through them!? I file my state and federal taxes every year with zero issue and no mention of RITA. After several hours of inputting w-2's for the last almost decade, I was thrown into the harsh reality that I owe $1200 to RITA for municipal taxes. If I do not pay this $1200 in the next two weeks I am liable to incur further fees, interest, or even be subpoenaed for court. I am already working myself to the bone and do not have this kind of money just laying around for taxes I didn't know existed. I know right now is a hard time for a lot of people, so if you are unable to donate please at least share this to friends and people you may know. All I need is 600 people to donate $2 dollars. No biggie right!? (quietly sobs). Anyone who knows me knows I hate asking for money but unfortunately I don't know what other options I have. Anything you can do to donate or share this is extremely helpful and I will be eternally grateful. Thank you so much.
