Support Jessica McGinty's Cancer Battle

Donation protected
Hello everyone,
  • My name is Patrick McGinty. I am the husband of Jessica McGinty. So here's a little history of us. We met back when we were young teens while I was with my dad and Gary Eason looking at HUD homes in Pontiac, MI. Then a few years later, we met again while I was cutting grass. She came and helped me out, and I found out she was a friend of mine, Melissa. So one thing led to another, and we started dating. Then we found out that we were about to have our first son. We got married young and then had our second son. As with all young couples, you have your ups and downs, and we had parted ways for some time, but I believe fate always has reasons for that. But a few years ago, we started reconnecting again after both of us had life changes and realized how much we enjoyed talking and being together. I am so at ease, and we are so thankful fate has brought us back together. So we decided to get married last September.

  • About a week before the wedding, she wasn't feeling well, so I took her to the hospital, and they found a spot on her lung and told us we needed to see the lung doctor. Which we did, and he set up a biopsy on the lung the week after the wedding. Within a few days, we found out it was lung cancer, and they needed to set up a PET scan and see the oncologist. So we did the PET scan and met with the oncologist and found out she had stage 4 lung cancer that had traveled to the brain. Then they told us she couldn't drive and that she needed treatment. The first treatment was 7 weeks, 5 days a week, chemo and radiation therapy, and one blast to the head. So we are traveling back and forth from home to the hospital, which is 65 miles round trip, so you can only imagine the added expenses, and I had to go on leave from my main job to get her back and forth.

  • Then we had a short time after the first round of treatment, and she started having issues with being able to move her leg and having headaches. So we went back to the ER, and they did some tests and found the cancer in her brain had spread more than what the first scans showed, so they started steroids and radiation therapy treatment again. So another 10 trips back and forth to the hospital on top of every other week treatments. She is in good spirits and trying to be uplifted by all the support from friends and family. But any support that you are able to help with would be greatly appreciated and a blessing for any support help. I will keep updating this link, and everyone who has helped, thank you all so much, and God bless everyone for your support.
