At just 32 years old, Jessica Kramer — a devoted wife, loving mother, and dedicated police officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office — has been diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (breast cancer). Last Thursday at MD Anderson, Jess and her husband Matt heard the words no family ever wants to hear: “You have cancer.”
Both Jess and Matt have built their lives around serving others — Jess as a police officer, and Matt as a firefighter with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. They have spent their careers running toward emergencies, helping strangers on their worst days, and standing shoulder to shoulder with their community in its toughest moments. Now, they are facing their own emergency — one they never could have imagined.
This diagnosis has turned their world upside down. Instead of spending their first year as parents cherishing moments with their beautiful daughter, Dakota, they are navigating doctor visits, treatment plans, and the uncertainty of what lies ahead. Jess will require time away from work for surgeries, chemotherapy, and recovery — and with both of them in public service, this will impact both of their incomes. Through it all, they are standing steadfast in their faith to fight this, believing in the power of prayer, strength, and the love that surrounds them.
While their number one priority is Jess’s health, the financial reality of this battle is overwhelming. The funds raised will help offset lost wages, cover medical expenses not paid by insurance, assist with childcare for Dakota, and manage everyday household bills that will continue during this fight. This support will allow Jess to focus her strength on healing, while Matt continues to hold the family together through each step of the journey.
Jess is known by everyone who loves her as strong, determined, and fiercely loyal — a fighter in every sense of the word. She has been there for her community countless times; now it’s our turn to be there for her.
The Kramer family is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and encouragement they have already received from their JSO and JFRD families, as well as from friends, neighbors, and loved ones. Your kindness and generosity will help lift the financial burden from their shoulders and give Jess the very best chance at beating this.
If you are able, please consider donating or sharing this page. Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a difference in helping this incredible family through the fight of their lives.
