Our beloved Jessica Gill has recently been diagnosed with bile duct liver cancer — a rare and aggressive form of cancer. She is scheduled to undergo major surgery this Monday, March 9th, to remove the damaged portion of her liver. This is a serious and complex procedure. She is expected to remain in the hospital for approximately 5–10 days following surgery. Doctors will not be able to determine the exact stage of her cancer until after the surgery is complete. Once they are able to fully evaluate the removed tissue, they will provide more information several days later about staging and next steps. Her minimum recovery time is expected to be four months at home — and likely longer. This recovery will not simply be rest. After a partial liver resection, her body will be working hard to regenerate liver tissue while also healing from major abdominal surgery. She will experience significant fatigue, weakness, pain, limited mobility, and strict activity restrictions. Everyday tasks will be physically exhausting. Her immune system will be vulnerable, and her body will need time and energy to rebuild strength.

Doctors have also shared that chemotherapy will most likely be necessary following surgery. If that is the case, it will extend both her recovery and the time she is unable to work, adding another layer of physical and emotional strain. As many of you know, Jessica is one of the hardest-working people you will ever meet. She is the primary income earner for her family and is paid based on the work she is physically able to do. She does not have short-term disability coverage, and her savings are limited. With months of recovery ahead and treatment likely to follow, the financial strain during this time will be significant. Jessica and Matt are raising two children at home, and their focus right now needs to be on healing, strength, and being together — not worrying about medical bills, household expenses, and lost income. If you know Jessica, you know she would never ask for help herself. She shows up for everyone else. She works tirelessly and gives generously to those around her. That’s why we are asking on her behalf. Our goal is to ease the financial burden so she can focus fully on recovery and treatment. Funds raised will go toward: Medical expenses not covered by insurance Household bills and daily living costs during her extended recovery Child-related expenses Travel and treatment costs if chemotherapy is required Right now, Jessica’s only job should be to survive this surgery, recover fully, and fight whatever comes next. The outcome, the stage, and the full treatment plan are still unknown — and that uncertainty alone is heavy. What we can do is remove the financial fear from this season. If Jessica has ever impacted your life, made you laugh, worked alongside you, supported you, or shown up when it mattered — this is the moment to show up for her. Please give what you can, share this page widely, and help us surround this family with the stability, strength, and support they deserve.
