Early Saturday afternoon, as they were leaving their uncle’s funeral, my cousins Jessica and Ariana, along with two other family members, Orlando and Lorie, were t-boned by a driver traveling at speeds way above the limit and had run a red light. Two of them were incredibly fortunate to escape without serious or life‑threatening injuries. Sadly, the same cannot be said for Jessica and Ariana, who are both currently in the ICU. Ariana suffered severe lower abdominal injuries and has already undergone surgery. Jessica sustained a serious spinal cord injury and is awaiting stabilization before she can undergo surgery. Jorge—Jessica’s husband and Ariana’s father—has taken an indefinite, unpaid leave from work as he navigates this sudden and devastating new reality for his family during what will be a long and difficult road to recovery.

We are asking for donations to help Jorge manage the financial burden during this time, including temporary housing so he can remain close to the hospital to support Jessica and Ariana throughout their recovery and rehabilitation.
