Help Support Jessica Anderson's Fight Against Cancer

My name is Babette Smith and I am hoping to help raise money for my niece, Jessica (Shafer) Anderson.

Jessica was recently diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer and she is battling for her life. Jessica is a fighter, a very strong woman. She has been on her own since she was 15, getting married at 18. She raised her stepson from 8 months old with her ex-husband, unable to have children of her own. So we thought (after 15 years of being married), so she was happy at least she got to raise one son and she did an amazing job. Jessica worked her way up from a server at Park Ave BBQ to a manager.

Jessica was living life, having fun, then she met Mo. They were friends, hanging out, living life. Then one day she called me and said, 'Aunt Babette, I think I'm pregnant.' When she was pregnant, she decided to get out of the restaurant business and put herself through Medical Assistant school where she currently works for Dr. McKay, a dermatologist in Stuart, for the past 3 years. Her and Mo saved up and had a house built in PSL. 5 years ago, we welcomed Brixton and then 9 months ago, we welcomed Lennox. Jessica was beaming, she finally had the kids she always wanted. Don't get me wrong, she has a great relationship with her stepson.

While Jessica was pregnant, she started bleeding from the rectum and they couldn't do anything. Well, it took them 9 months to finally take her seriously and give her a colonoscopy. To our devastation, they found cancer and for the last week, she has undergone lots of tests. They were going to give her chemo pills and some chemo and radiation. Now they have decided to go aggressive and give her double chemo along with radiation. Jessica is not going to be able to work and they relied on both of their incomes to provide for their family. Jessica has always been there for everyone, whether it was taking pictures or planning a party, she was there and very good, I might say.
