As many of you know, just weeks after having ACL surgery, our friend Jesse was in a tragic four-wheeler accident while branding on May 3rd. While driving back down to the barn from lunch, the end of one of the ropes Jesse was carrying over his shoulder became wrapped around the driveline, instantly wrapping and pinning his arm and hand to the bottom of the four-wheeler. Luckily, friends and family were close behind to help cut the ropes and free his arm. He had obvious, significant injuries to his wrist and hand, and he was rushed to the emergency room in Ronan by his brother, Roy. Once there, they were able to reduce his dislocated wrist but were unable to restore blood flow to his hand due to the extensive damage done to the arteries. Jesse was LifeFlighted to Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle to undergo emergent surgery to save his hand. Surgery involved vascular repairs to restore blood supply, a plate and several screws to stabilize his wrist, and skin grafts to repair the many rope burns. Thankfully, surgery was successful, but Jesse remained admitted at Harbor View for 4 more days to ensure blood supply remained adequate to his hand. On Thursday, May 8th, he was able to return home to begin the recovery process. With many more office visits, surgeries, trips back to Seattle for follow-up with vascular surgeons, and extensive physical therapy to come, this will be a long recovery process, but we know Jesse is up to the challenge. All donations will go directly to Jesse and his family to ease the financial burden of medical and living expenses as well as travel costs while he takes this much-needed time to rest and recover so he can get back to doing what he loves.
