Hello, my name is Jesse Arnold. I am 37 years old. I was raised in a toxic family where drugs and alcohol played a big role in the cognitive function of the family. Drugs and violence were part of everyday life. It was total dysfunction, and because of the way I was raised, I didn’t know anything but that kind of lifestyle. It bled into my adult life where I had been in and out of jail and lost most of that family due to drugs. I have been through treatment centers and had to focus on regulating my emotions and cognitive change. I realized that once I grew up, it was on me to fix what was broken and move forward. It was no longer about how I was raised; it became my responsibility to change all that I knew.

I have recently graduated from counseling and moved out of its sober living program and into my own place. I am 1 year clean and work full-time at Multiseal. I am on house arrest from the consequences of that lifestyle. I just got my license reinstated. It is very stressful having to figure out how to get to places such as work, reporting to community corrections (Warrick County, and I live in Evansville). Even just going to the grocery store or the pharmacy is a task. I do make enough money to make ends meet, but that’s it. I need just a little help on getting a vehicle. I have poor credit and can’t finance one. GOD is allowing me to turn my life around and I just want to help others as well. What better teacher than experience. The end goal here is to get my degree in psychology and become a drug counselor. I have to get my record expunged and take the classes, but I desire to help others through the struggle of addiction.
