From Courtney Mooney---Jesse Hendrix is a dear friend of mine. Through my friendship with his lady I have to truly an deeply appreciate who this man is and how he shows up in this world.
Jesse is a beloved Kapa'a Elementary School teacher who has dedicated much of his last five years to the east side of Kaua'i. He is constantly wearing a smile, asking questions about others and spreading the joy of life that he finds.
On Saturday 31st around sunset time, he sustained a simple fall that caused a serious lower leg injury of 6+ breaks, including a compound fracture, to the tibia and fibula, right above the ankle joint. This will put Jesse out of work for, at the very best, 6 weeks.
While his medical insurance is covering a portion of his care, many of the other, wonderfully powerful practices that are not covered, can help him regain strength, mobility, and quality of life deeper into his adventures.
These include therapies such as acupuncture, specialized physical therapy (Body Evolve in Lihue), and body-work modalities that will help restore movement, reduce pain, and support nervous system recovery. In-home visits from practitioners are especially important right now, as transportation is extremely difficult for him. 37 years young and there is a lot more that this man wants to accomplish.
In addition, the funds will help cover essential living expenses while he is unable to work, including rent, transportation assistance, and nutritional supplements. We are planning on this being a long healing road to recovery that will require many different steps. He has 45 days of leave at school, and already having burned through 5 of them at this time, he will be without pay before he is ready to go back.
There are always unexpected needs that arise. Since we do not know how long Jesse’s recovery will take, your support will help in every way possible. Both for the expected and the unforeseen challenges. Every contribution, no matter the size or shape, helps create a foundation of stability and hope for Jesse and his family during this vulnerable time. Your support allows him to focus fully on healing.
Linked here and below is a support site that can allow you to support without it being strictly financial. Helping around the house, cooking meals, spending quality time or even ordering delivery of one of your favorite Kaua’i restaurants are all great was to show up. Calls and texts and connections is important as well. Sharing this page with others makes a meaningful difference as well.
Thank you for being part of the community that lifts him up as he moves step by step toward recovery. He feels extremely loved, blessed and supported to get through this challenging part of his life and come out stronger, wiser and ready to have a huge positive impact on this planet.
From Hendrix----Grateful to be chosen by this life, taught by parents who were educators and get to spread my love for learning, curiosity and growth into this planet. This accident will bring me back strong and wiser. Together we GROW!
All funds will be going directly to Jesse Hendrix.
