Let's get Jesse a new liver
Donation protected
Update: Jesse is still not working and is now dealing with a small section of skin cancer. We are trying some new things to treat his liver disease.
My husband, Jesse, is currently battling non-alcoholic liver disease. Over the past month, he has been unable to work due to severe shortness of breath, and we’re amid ongoing tests to determine the underlying cause.
The financial strain is growing as Jesse’s absence from work and mounting medical bills take a toll. Over the past few years, his health has steadily declined, which has drained our savings. Although Jesse has both short-term and long-term disability insurance, the companies are making it incredibly difficult to access the benefits he’s entitled to. Like many insurers, they seem more focused on avoiding payouts than providing the desperately needed support.
I’m doing my best to keep us afloat, juggling my responsibilities as a high school teacher and adjunct professor, but there’s simply no time for me to take on additional work to make up for Jesse’s lost income.
