Updated 12/3/2025:
on Sunday Jesse finally got the call that we have all been waiting on! Monday he had the heart transplant and Tuesday he had liver transplant! Both surgeries went way better than anyone could have expected and he was able to come off of the vent last night! While he still has a long road of recovery this is an absolute testament of God’s unwavering love and ability to preform miracles! We greatly appreciate all the love, support and prayers!
Hi, my name is Michell Starr. My husband Brian and I adopted our son Jesse Starr when he was 10 years old, knowing that he was born with a heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and would someday need a heart transplant. Unfortunately, he also has non-alcoholic cirrhosis now and will need a liver as well. As of 11:15 am today, 8/29/25, he is on the dual transplant list for Heart/Liver.
They have Jesse on IV medication that will require him to remain in the hospital at UT Southwestern in Dallas until transplant.
Jesse and his fiancée, Kailey, have a 4-year-old daughter and a 6-month-old son, and they live near Brian and me, which is 3 hours away. The family will be incurring lots of medical expenses, travel expenses, lodging, food, and most certainly lost wages. We would greatly appreciate any support we get at this time, but most importantly, please help us in praying that God watches over the amazing medical staff, Jesse, and the rest of the family as we go through this difficult time!
