As many of you know, Jesse, Sarah, and their 18 month old son Hendrix lost their long time home and all of their belongings due to the BC wild fires. I know many of us are trying to support their family in any way through this devastating time.

It’s been a hard year for families around the Okanagan with the wild fires raging through communities. Our cabin was lost this year in the Bradley creek wildfire outside of Vernon on Okanagan Indian band land. We were never put on evacuation notice so our whole community was not prepared for this outcome. Many of us leaving minutes before our homes were lost. In saying this, we had no time to pack much of anything. Jesse moved into this cabin 12 years ago and I lived there for 8 years. We have spent that time renovating, landscaping and adding in an addition for our 18 month old son in October. It was the first place we considered a true home. It was our little slice of heaven. We went back to where our home once stood last Saturday. It was a big reality check that we have lost everything. A few pieces of china and burnt tools were left where we once had a whole home and life. It’s beyond devastating.
