Once upon a time, Alex and Jess were living life like any other young couple making plans, spending time together, living life and planning their future.
June 30th 2026 everything changed.
Alex was suddenly admitted to the hospital after what the young couple thought was a bloodwork appointment, and their world was turned upside down. The diagnosis: leukemia.
Since that day, Alex has remained in the hospital, spending time in and out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as doctors work around the clock to care for him. What makes this even more frightening is that Alex has an extremely rare form of leukemia that has not yet been fully diagnosed. His medical team is doing everything they can to identify exactly what they’re fighting while also beginning treatment as quickly as possible.
Every day brings more tests, more treatments, more waiting, and more uncertainty. There are good moments and incredibly difficult ones, but one thing is certain—Alex has a long road ahead, and this battle is only beginning.
If you know Alex, you know what an incredible person he is. As a capo for the Washington Spirit, he spends his time at games helping in leading chants for thousands of fans, bringing all the energy, passion, and a sense of community to every match. Away from the stadium, he’s the guy who loves playing volleyball with friends, being the board game master strategist, being the incredibly skilled home cook in the kitchen, making people laugh, always finding positivity in everything and finding a way to lift others up. Now, it’s our turn to lift him up.
Through every single moment, Jess has been right there beside him. She rarely leaves the hospital, spending her days and nights supporting Alex through every test, every treatment, and every difficult conversation. Making sure every box is checked. The strength, love, and devotion she’s shown have been nothing short of incredible.
As you can imagine, the financial burden is growing quickly. Between ICU care, extended hospital stays, specialized treatments, medications, endless testing, travel, and the possibility of staying closer to treatment centers, the expenses continue to add up. Because Alex’s diagnosis is so rare and complex, there are still many unknowns about what lies ahead.
This fundraiser was started because we want Alex and Jess to know they don’t have to face this alone.
Every donation, no matter the amount, will help ease the financial stress so they can focus on what matters most—Alex’s fight, his treatment, and his recovery. And if you’re not able to donate, sharing their story means just as much. Every share reaches another person who may be able to help and reminds Alex and Jess that they have an entire community standing beside them.
The road ahead won’t be easy, but they won’t have to walk it alone.
Right now, Alex is fighting with everything he has. Jess is holding his hand through it all. Let’s help carry them through the days, weeks, and months ahead.
Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, your prayers, and for standing with Alex and Jess during the hardest time of their lives.
