My name is Jesika. I am a single mother, taking care of my two girls, one in high school and the other in middle school. We are very active in our church and community. I know times are hard right now for a lot of people, so I understand and know there is not a lot of help out there right now.
I work two jobs. I am a para-educator at an elementary school, and I work in hospitality food service. Unfortunately, due to medical issues, I have been out of work for about 3 1/2 months. Up until this point, I’ve been able to provide and pay all my bills and rent, of course with the help of my family, friends, and church community.
About 3 1/2 months ago, I started what I thought was my period, but it was super heavy and super irregular. It didn’t stop and never slowed. It turned out to not be a period but an uncontrolled uterine bleed that lasted two months. I went to the ER four times in total and had one five-day stay. During these visits I had four blood transfusions, two iron infusions and developed superficial arterial thrombosis(blood clots not deep but long) in both my arms which are super painful. They gave me medication to stop the bleeding that didn’t work at first especially mixed with the blood thinners they gave me. So they took me off blood thinners and upped the dose of the medication that helps stop the bleeding.
Since released from hospital, I have been dealing with just trying to get my body and life back to normal. While my bleeding has stopped mostly, I’m still dealing with anemia (lightheadedness and lethargy) and the pain and discomfort of the blood clots in my arms, which can take months to go away naturally. I have been working on getting healthy and getting back to work.
So you see, this is why I’m asking for help. I’m in a place right now where I’m on the verge of losing my housing and I’m looking for help any and everywhere. If you feel it in your heart to bless me and my family with help, we would be so grateful and very much thankful. But I know times are hard for a lot of people, so I understand if you can’t. All I ask is that you share this so someone who might be able to help can. Thank you so much for reading my story.
