On November 27th, 2025, my brother-in-law, Gerardo “Jerry” Gallegos, suffered a hemorrhagic stroke due to hypertension (high blood pressure) and hyperglycemia (diabetes) and was given a 15% chance of survival. Essentially, he had a massive bleed in his brain. He was in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator for 2.5 weeks, then heavily sedated for another 1.5 weeks after being extubated. His right arm and right leg are non-ambulant, and he has aphasia (able to communicate, just doesn't make sense). He spent a little over a month in ICU, then was released to rehabilitate.

Jerry has spent a month in a short-term rehabilitation facility but is required to have aggressive PT, occupational therapy, and speech therapy for the foreseeable future to help him get back partial ability and independence.

Jerry will be going home in a week and is in need of a medical bed. His insurance will not cover this particular medical equipment.

In order to facilitate his rehab and get him out of bed for showers and bathroom usage, this bed is a NECESSITY for him.
